York Active 110 Cross Trainer Review
Assembly is easy and won’t take much time at all. Easy to assemble with just one person, you’ll find that the cross trainer is quite heavy and having someone help you move it into an upright position is recommended. Once upright, the front wheels allow you to move the 110 with ease across any floor.
Cardiovascular health is what a cross trainer is meant to offer. So the York 110 does this by providing a 12” stride length that is slightly shorter than an average stride length when walking. Also the foot pedals are made with a non-slip material and can be adjusted to fit your foot perfectly.
There are no straps to keep your feet in place, allowing you full mobility and comfort.
The arms are ergonomic and will fit small and large hands perfectly. You can also monitor your heart rate using the sensors built into the handles. This is a great option that allows you to monitor your exertion to see just how good of a workout you’re really getting.

The monitor is battery powered and provides all of the vital statistics you need, including:
- RPM speed
- Time
- Distance
- Calories
- Pulse
Directly from the monitor, you’ll be able to choose from four pre-set programs meant to help you lose weight and build strength. With these programs you can go through different resistance levels, alternating resistance to burn more calories.
There is even a fitness test so that you have an accurate starting point to see how far you’ve progressed since your first workout.
Magnetic resistance provides accurate and sustained resistance over 8 different resistance levels. So changing resistance requires you to turn the control below the monitor manually, whilst this isn’t the most intuitive design, it’s easy to do – even mid-workout.
Pros
- Very affordable
- 8 magnetic resistance levels
- Easy to move with transport wheels
- Provides an effective workout
Cons
- Gets noisy over time
For some reason, after a few months of ownership, you may notice that the machine sounds different when in use. I can’t pinpoint the reason, but it’s noticeably more noisy than it was when I first stepped foot on the machine. A lot of other users have had the same issue. The company is willing to send a replacement, or help the consumer correct the issue, which is definitely a big plus for York Fitness.
You won’t experience high-end resistance even on the highest level, however you will experience moderate resistance. Also the 4 pre-set programs are a nice bonus if you want to jump on without having to change the resistance levels on your own.
So you can find a program for losing weight (i.e. low resistance) and programs meant to help you build muscle. Also the inclusion of a fitness test option is definitely a perk that allowed me to judge my fitness level over the course of a few months.
The Active 110 is a little noisy, but for the price, it’s the perfect entry-level cross trainer.
