Pro Form 900ZLE Cross Trainer Review
The 900ZLE is a commercial-quality elliptical cross trainer, meaning that it’s highly durable and delivers an effective workout. Thanks to its advanced features, this cross trainer is good fit for both beginners and advanced users.
18 Resistance Levels
Resistance is what makes your workouts effective. The more difficult each stride is, the more calories and fat you’ll burn. The 900ZLE offers 18 digital resistance levels through its Silent Magnetic Resistance system. The highest resistance level is quite challenging, so even advanced users will still get an excellent workout session on this machine.
The benefit of digital resistance is that it allows you to adjust the intensity without having to interrupt your workout.
Large Foot Pedals
One of the biggest issues people tend to have with cross trainers is that the foot pedals are too small or not wide enough. The 900LZE features oversized pedals that can accommodate just about any foot size.
The positioning of the traction stripe also allows you to comfortably choose different foot positions without slipping.
An Advanced Console
The 900LZE comes with the famous and advanced Pro Form console. This large LCD monitor allows you to keep an eye on your time, speed, calories and distance. Built-in workouts (18 to be exact) are included, too, that allow you to vary your workouts and avoid plateaus. All of the workouts were created by certified personal trainers, and they automatically adjust the resistance levels for you. All you have to do is concentrate on giving your workout everything you’ve got.
The console also comes equipped with an iPod port and intermix Acoustics 2.0 sound, so you can listen to music while you exercise. A convenient water bottle holder is located just underneath the LCD display.
We loved that the console was battery powered, so we weren’t forced to keep this cross trainer near an electrical outlet. Pro Form does include an AC adaptor, so you can choose to plug it into the wall if you don’t want to use batteries.
Space-Saving Design
When fully assembled, this cross trainer has a rather large footprint: 187cm x 64cm x 165cm. But its space-saving design makes it easy to fold up the machine and tuck it away until your next workout session. The built-in transport wheels make it easy to move the cross trainer from one room to another or into the corner of a room for storage.
Grip Pulse
Tracking your heart rate is the most effective way to determine just how effective or intense your workouts are. The 900ZLE features EKG grip pulse sensors that help you monitor your pulse and stay within your targeted heart rate zone.
iFit Live Compatible
If you want even more workout variety, the 900ZLE is compatible with the iFit Live service. This service is optional and comes at an additional cost, but will give you access to more than 1,000 workouts.
You also have the option of building your own routes through just about any city in the world. The neat thing about this is that routes are powered by Google Maps, so you can actually see the city through Google’s Street View feature.
Easy Assembly
Pro Form uses the ICONS SNAP assembly system, which makes it a breeze to put this cross trainer together.
We do want to note that the 900ZLE is rather heavy, so you might want a second pair of hands to help you move the box into your home – especially if live on the second floor or higher.
Pros
- 18 digital resistance levels for easy intensity adjustment
- Advanced console lets you track your workout stats
- Speakers and iPod port allow you to listen to music while you exercise
- Easy assembly
- Folds up to save on space
Cons
- Heavy
As mentioned previously, this cross trainer is quite heavy. Make sure you have an extra pair of hands to help you move it, or opt for white glove delivery when ordering online.
Despite its weight, the Pro Form 900ZLE is durable and offers an excellent workout. Multiple resistance levels make workouts challenging, and the oversized foot pedals accommodate users of all sizes and heights. We highly recommend this cross trainer to anyone looking for a commercial-quality machine for home use.
